In its classic representative repertoire are MU Guiying Takes Command, Women Generals of the Yang Family, The Rescue in Wild Boar Forest, Madam White Snake, All Red the River, XIE Yaohuan, Mischief in Heaven, Chuncao Braves the Court, Lady Wenji Returned to Han Dynasty, Three Attacks against Zhujia Village, The Red Lantern, Battle on the Plain, Butterflies Lingering over Flowers, etc. Over the past 60 years, the Company has been producing and staging more than 600 excellent traditional work, new historical work and modern Peking Opera under different themes, forming a distinctive stage art style. Now the Company has grown into a greatly influential Peking Opera art ensemble made up of outstanding performing artists including LI Shaochun, YUAN Shihai, YE Shenglan, DU Jinfang, WENG Ouhong, FAN Junhong, Ajia, ZHENG Yiqiu and LIU Jidian, as well as distinguished playwrights, directors, composers and stage artists.
The China National Peking Opera Company is a national art theatre directly under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, established in January, 1955 with Peking Opera art master MEI Lanfang as the first president.
