This was kind of my MAC starter colors when I went in this is what they suggested.
Kirsten If you like those try Honesty. I have MAC’s Naked Lunch, soft brown, texture, tempting, woodwinked, mythology, & brown down. cate For any eyeshadow beginners like myself who are teens, I recommend Stila's Kitten. 
I for one love color! Perhaps I'll write an article more geared towards colored shadows.
Amber Tan good point! Then again, people who are just starting out or who are new might be intimidated by color and might be less inclined to try it out at first. Ya Bello, blue and mauve are also versatile, so is mild green Elevate your eyes with a streak of rich, highly pigmented pressed powder. Wendy Those who are new to eye make up neutral eye shadow is the way to go like myself. You could have added another more interesting shade. Christina There are so many superior black eyeshadows to MAC Carbon, even in the drug store wet n wild is better. Show me purples, pinks, greens, blues and teals! Now those are pretty! Beener83 Copperplate is my favourite from Mac. Jenny I love Satin Taupe, Cork, Soft Brown, Woodwinked, and any of the matte finishes.
